Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Why should I use a designer?
Our training and expertise will help you save time and money by expediting the design process, providing your general contractors with what they need when they need it, and reducing the stress of the experience on you and your family. The end result is a cohesive design executed as smartly as possible.

2. Does Gaia do free initial consultations?
No. We understand that some do, but we feel that some of the most important work we do occurs during that initial consultation. You wouldn’t expect to go to a doctor or lawyer for a free consult, and our skill and expertise is valuable. We do guarantee that you will get your money’s worth.

3. How much does it cost to remodel a kitchen or bath?
That’s very difficult to say. The cost can vary greatly depending on the size of the room, the materials chosen, the scope of the project, labor rates, and so on. As a very rough rule, a small bath typically starts at about $15,000 and can go up to well over $50,000 if you want it to. A small simple kitchen could perhaps be done for $50,000, but room size and choices of appliances, cabinets, stone, etc., can easily drive costs up over $100,000.

4. What is the best way to work with Gaia?
If you enjoy the design and product selection process, and have the time required to do all the research and management of the project, hourly is probably the way to go. We can help with the layout, general design direction, or whatever pieces of the project you’d appreciate a skilled second opinion on. If on the other hand you work 60-80 hours a week, and experience brain fry upon entering a tile showroom, you may want our full package. We charge a flat fee to get started, and the rest of our time is covered by design fees based on a percentage of the costs of the products installed in the space.
